Jaw Resurfacing

Not wanting to purchase a brand new set of jaws?

I offer this service to keep your old set of jaws but make them usable again.

How do I do this?

First, I start by addressing any burrs on the back surface. Next, I surface grind off the old serrations to get a nice, flat surface to start with. After that I then mill the new serrations and bring them back to life. This service is something that I have done for a very long time and have had great results.

*Please make sure your jaws are thick enough to lose some material off of the face*

**You will sometimes need to address your screw heads to get them to seat below the face of the jaws; I do not do this**

Take a look for yourself below at some of the resurfacing jobs I have completed.

BEFORE

You can see where someone once attempted to cut new serrations, this vise was brought to me to repair as it had no grip!

AFTER

It's now ready to be put back to work with new serrations.

Want your factory smooth jaws to become serrated? No Problem!

Here they are with newly added factory Starrett vertical serrations

These jaws were welded on because the jaw pins were misplaced. Here is the vise shortly after the owner found it and broke them free!

Not just vise jaws, I can resharpen or resurface any type of machinery jaw/blade. Here's a set of metal shear blades that are nearly 90 years old!

Here they are cut to the 4-1/2° angle on the left, straight (bottom shear blade) on the right.
